"This is a book—destined to be a classic—of doing things differently (and better) while also enjoying it. How wonderful to have fun and be good at the same time! Sounds implausible? Reading this book you’ll find out that it’s true. It’s entirely possible. And on top of that, it’s easy. Anybody can do it. So why not you?” ---from the Foreword, by Ervin Laszlo

Creative and innovative solutions to difficult issues are presented in this practical guidebook for environmentally friendly living. Low-tech exercises for saving water, reducing waste, and preparing food help readers take communal actions to benefit their own neighborhoods, and the world at large, while having fun. By stressing that what is most essential is for human beings to relax, work, and play together, this humorous yet important resource shows that an attitude of creativity and abundance will transform environmental challenges into opportunities for personal and collective growth.

Carolyn North
Carolyn North teaches movement and sound improvisation for healing. She is an environmental innovator and the founder of the Daily Bread Project, a community hunger organization. She is the author of Earth Above, Heaven Below and Voices Out of Stone. She and her husband were members of the Findhorn-inspired community, Shenoa, in Northern California, where she designed the community’s mandala garden and they built the world’s first Permitted rice-strawbale house. She considers herself to be a social activist who uses innovative arts and meditative practice as ways to promote the expansion of consciousness, and she takes great pleasure in all the different forms it takes. She lives in Berkeley, California, with her husband and has three married children, four grandchildren, and two god-grandchildren.

Serious Fun is a glorious invitation to each of us to feel more deeply satisfied and fulfilled as we make small, yet profoundly meaningful changes in our daily lives. Highly recommended!

‘Ingenious improvisations on money, food, waste, water and home’ is what this book claims to bestow upon its readers. And that it does well. I felt genuinely motivated to be greener and I believe that other readers will too.
