Choosing to Be

Cats have a long association with Buddhist teaching, exemplifying so much that humans struggle to attain. Here, Kat Tansey uses her own two cats as Zen master and Zen novice to aid her understanding of Buddha Mind. We follow her journey out of chronic fatigue and deep depression as she learns to meditate, guided by the voice of her cat and the behaviour of her kitten. As their stories unfold so does the reader's understanding grow. The cats are more than just metaphors as they reflect the progress and pitfalls along the way. You don't have to be a cat lover to enjoy this real-life parable which has much to offer all of us. It would be the perfect gift for anyone learning to meditate in any tradition.
