Carly Newfeld has worked in journalism for many years, as a writer, editor and astute commentator on the front line of social change and transformation. Born in Great Malvern, England, she was raised within the stimulating art and culture of East Europeans who had settled in that area after WWII. Witnessing such renewal of spirit spurred Carly onto a lifetime path of healing injustice, generating hope, and turning vision into action. Her life and work reflect the interweaving of these three strands:

In 1970 Carly joined the Findhorn Foundation in northern Scotland, where she lived for eight years, deepening her spiritual tools, and creating and facilitating workshops and programs on subjects as far-ranging as the integration of spiritual values into everyday life and vegetarian cooking. Carly focalized Findhorn's busy kitchen for two years, and makes the most wicked plum pudding this side of the Atlantic!

After moving to London in 1978, Carly worked for three years with Amnesty International's International Secretariat documenting the darkest side of life for people disenfranchised and imprisoned because of their beliefs.

In 1981 she became joint UK Coordinator of Planetary Initiative for The World We Choose, the outreach program for the United Nations' sponsored Planetary Citizens, noted for popularizing the term, 'Think Globally-Act Locally.' Carly travelled and lectured widely in Britain and Western Europe promoting Planetary Initiative, and inspiring many grassroots groups and socially responsible businesses to define their vision and take action.

Carly and Diego married in December 1983, and moved to Santa Fe a few months later. They still live there today, with their two lively children.
