Dwelling as we do in the material realm, we humans often need some kind of proof or verification before we can accept the idea of metaphysical realms and Beings. Frances Ripley offers us a unique verification through her beautiful drawings of the elemental and devic kingdoms, and through her story of how she came to draw them.

The drawings, besides simply being enjoyed, may be used as a focus for meditation or endeavour. "The first fairy I ever saw was at Findhorn. That is not surprising as the veils between the worlds are thin in that magical place. I was sitting in a circle listening to a lecture. In the middle of the room was a bowl of flowers and my eye was caught by a wonderful blue-mauve light about 18" tall, dancing round the flowers. It was exactly the same colour as the catmint flowers in the vase. I knew at once it was a catmint fairy! I watched for about five minutes, looking away from time to time to check it was not an illusion but it was always there darting in and out of the plants, enjoying itself. Then I had to give my attention to the talk again and I could no longer see it.

"I was reminded of this recently when I was sent Visions Unseen to read by Findhorn Press. It is a book about the Natural Realms by Frances Ripley and I was enchanted from the moment I picked it up. I was drawn in by the story of her life and totally fascinated by the generous number of extraordinary and colourful illustrations in her book. She explains that when the Beings approached her wanting to be drawn, her pulse rate would change dramatically, her hands would become restless and her fingers would itch. Her book is full of stories and my favourite is when she quietly tunes into a foxglove plant and finds herself drawing a simple pattern. When she has finished the drawing a large bumblebee flies into the window and slowly buzzes its way spirally from the page up about four feet and then hovers before repeating the flight. She is told that she has drawn the vibrational field of the plant and the bee was homing into that to help it find the flower!"
