From a background in teaching and ten years of midwifery practice, Adela Stockton has worked as a doula, doula course facilitator and childbirth homeopath since 2002. Born in Perth, Scotland, she is a founder member of the Scottish Doula Network and an active veteran member of national network Doula UK. Adela passionately believes that gentle birth can benefit the longterm health and wellbeing of mothers and babies. Her articles are widely published in professional journals and parenting magazines.

Adela’s premise is that the capacity to birth gently is within yourself.
A chapter titled ‘Clearing the Past’ looks at the importance of processing your own birth experience if it was a negative one, grieving for any miscarriages and ensuring that you are well in mind as well as body.
